with the railroad tracks
and the boombox jams;
the crashing waves of phone calls
and boring afternoon movies,
coming in and out,
slamming the door,
shutting the window,
muffling the snore of a lover,
dimming the laughter of neighbors,
trapping the blasting sound of quiet.
